Winners of Pink Ladder’s inaugural edition of Manbassador Awards 2018 were announced at the Manbassador Evening hosted at GoodWorks CoWorks.

The event featured panel discussion around the theme of “Role of male champions for women for a gender equal workplace” featuring eminent speakers like Srini Ramaswamy – Head, Inclusion & Collaboration-India & APJC, Cisco, Vishwas Mudagal – CEO, GoodWorksLabs and Dr. Nilanjana Bhaduri- Director- L&D, Harman followed by the awards ceremony. The event was attended by HR leaders and academia.

Few key insights from the panel discussion:

  • Gender equality is not just about hiring more women, but having a 360 degree approach around hiring, promotion, development programs by leveraging the power of support systems & analytics
  • Holding a mirror to help a woman discover her strength, her passion & not let stress lead her to quit her job is the true value male champions can bring to gender equality
  • Men taking equal responsibility of home chores will be a key enabler for more women to focus on their career progression
  • We need to look at what lies in front of our eyes & not behind eyeballs to avoid unconscious bias at the work place which is a key deterrent for women
  • Gender issues are deeply rooted in society. We need to go back to childhood & get rid of these dogmas. Boys & girls need to be treated equal. Boys need to be more empathetic & girls need to be told not to have barriers hold them back
  • Coach men to overcome bias, celebrate women success more, call out issues, get more women take center stage in meetings
  • External support systems like Pink Ladder can partner with organizations to help create more gender equality at work places
